| Flying As an active member of the squadron, every cadet has the opportunity to receive flying instruction and take controls of an aircraft. Most of our flying is termed 'Air Experience Flying' and is provided by one of the Air Experience Flights (AEF) based around the country. Usually we visit 7AEF based at RAF Cranwell. | | The aircraft used is the Grob Tutor, which has a 180hp engine and can cruise at 120-150kts with a maximum height of 10,000 ft. The Tutor is used by the RAF for elementary training of pilots and navigators, and is well-suited to aerobatic manoeuvres. |  |  | Each Air Experience Flight usually lasts around 20 minutes during which time you take control of the aircraft and perform a number of manoeuvres. With experience, each flight allows more difficult manoeuvres to be performed, culminating in aerobatics. |
